Hi, I'm Skip Hoard. I retired in July, 2005 after 27 years with Stanford University in the Facilities Department to a life of surfing, photography, and sometimes golfing.

On Tuesday Oct. 4, 2005 I went to Linda Mar with my new Canon 1D and a Tamron 200-500 zoom lens intending to take a few photos for myself. I was approached by several people wanting to know if I had a web page so they could see my photos, I didn't. I visited Linda Mar every day that week and by weeks end I had so many requests I decided to get on the web.

In November 2005 I started Lindamarsurfers.com, hosted at a free website and used another site, Photoreflect, to post all my photos for viewing with an option for purchasing. Because of the success of Lindamarsurfers on January 16, 2006 I created this new site S&H Photography.  Unfortunately I was unable to post photos at S&H so I continued posting photos only at Photoreflect.

It had always been my desire to post photos at S&H but up until now I had not found a practical method.  In Sept. 2007 I found software that made it possible to create photo galleries with most of the options and features I was looking for so I will now be posting photos here at S&H Photography. For purchasing I have signed on with PayPal making it possible to purchase photos and other services by email. I will continue to post photos at PhotoReflect because of the unlimited number of photos I can keep posted. I will continue to look for better ways to present photos and purchasing  options at S&H  but for now this will have to do.

From the response I have received since October 2005 it's obvious to me that most surfers would like a photo of themselves surfing. Several surfers have told me that they have been surfing for over thirty years and don't have a single photos of  themselves. With this in mind it is my intension to make available as many photos as possible for surfers of all skill levels. On a good day I may take over 400 photos so if you see me shooting I probably have a shot of you.

If you see me shooting feel free to ask me to photograph you and I will do my best to get as many shots as possible of you and post them on the web. I post photos the same day, usually before 7:00pm.

On Nov 29, 2005 I purchased a new Canon 500mm L series Professional lens in order to provide you with the best photos possible. Check it out. OK so it's really not this big but my photos are much better because I'm using professional equipment.
